Seminar contents

In this seminar, students conceive and discuss current topics in management in health facilities in small groups and answer specific questions to these challenges. The students will present their solutions in a plenum and will discuss these critically with other students.

Students understand the young discipline of “planetary health” and the significance of climatic changes in the Anthropocene for human health. They playfully learn the importance of the need to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in healthcare management. You will recognize the necessity of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and the possibilities of public welfare-oriented business model development using the Business Model Canvas (Day 1, 28.04.2025, 09.45-17.30).

In the real-world laboratory, you will learn how the management actions of the association “SaveNature e.V.” will train future generations in their sustainability skills by teaching ESD in the primary subject area of the circular economy (plastic recycling, etc.). The association serves as a client for a public welfare-oriented business model development by student teams (date 2: 05.05.2025, 08.15-17.30).

The students develop possible business models for sustainable economic activity of the association based on the Business Model Canvas in order to make it independent of funding and donations in particular. They present these solutions convincingly for discussion and constructively receive structured feedback from all participants (day 3, probably 16.06.2025, 14.15-18.30). Virtual “consultation rounds” lasting 4 x 90 minutes will take place between sessions 2 and 3. These will be scheduled individually with the respective teams and the lecturer as required.

A presentation and a seminar paper will be demanded as a test performance.
