Advanced Theory and Methods in Strategy
Course Program
This course focuses on empirical research within the Management and Strategy domain. It is a prerequisite for all students, who wish to write their Master thesis at our chair. Students become familiar with different types of conducting research. They learn how an academic article is structured and what to pay attention to within each section. Students learn how Hypotheses are developed from theory and what theory is about. Students read and discuss various studies for this purpose. Participants also work on their writing style. In addition, students learn statistical methods and apply them using appropriate statistical software. At the end of the course, students will be able to plan the entire research process, apply appropriate methods, discuss and elaborate on relevant findings.
Registration
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 16 students. Students who wish to take the course can apply by email to the Chair of Corporate Management (wiso-unternehmensfuehrung@fau.de) with the subject „Application ATMS“ up until April, 10th 2023. For this purpose, please send along a transcript of records as well as your CV. Please also make sure that your application e-mail contains your FAU e-mail address and your StudOn user ID.
We will notify you on April, 13th 2023 about whether you can join the seminar.
The course is assigned to the Master in Management module „Advanced Methods in Management Research“ (compulsory area II).
